Most murder mysteries are played out on a rather small stage. This murder is an international incident involving players from much of northern Europe. Still, it moves in the classic pattern, right down to the scene of explanations at the end for the sake of the reader who may have failed to follow all the twists of the plot. Garrick Hagon takes the listener through the story effortlessly with the firm touch of a seasoned professional. Both text and reading are characterized by workaday competence rather than any special flair, but devoteés of the John Putnam Thatcher series should be well satisfied.
