5.0 out of 5 stars Not enough, not nearly enough, Jul 4 1999
This review is from: Dawn Of Camelot (Paperback)
This is one of the best books I have ever read. and I have read it 3 times so far. I have read all 6 books and liked them all, but the Meg book tore my heart out and made me cry. It is the story of Meg, Merlin's sister and takes place at the time Arthur returns to Britain to claim the throne. It takes place before Arthur meets Guinevere and he only gets Excalibur at the end of the book. Meg is immortal and wants to experience Mortality as a lark. Instead she falls in love with Connor, Arthur's childhood best friend, who has lost everything he ever loved. He has lost his family, his home, everything. He has been captured, tortured and left for dead and then he meets Meg who has taken the shape of a deer and gets shot by Connor in the shoulder. She is soooo hurt that she cannot use her powers and is taken to Merlin to be cured. She puts a protective spell on herself so Merlin won't know she is his sister. It is delightful to read how the author has her learn about mortality and all that goes with it. The smell of people, how to walk, talk, eat, smell, touch, kiss, feel passion, love, laughter and finds out that it is not enough, not nearly enough. She wants to stay in the mortal world and marry Connor and have his children but knows that it can never be as she is just an illusion and immortal and Connor is mortal. The other part of the plot is that Arthur must be kept alive to rule Britain. This is Merlin's responsibility and Meg is able to help by transforming into a warrior and helps in the fighting battles, finally it is up to her to battle the darkness of the world to save humanity. If she is killed while she is a mortal, she will truly die. I cried right along with Connor all day and all night after that final battle. I won't give away the end but I think I will read this book again starting tonite. I have already told the whole book to my manacurist. She and the rest of the shop listened with baited breath and cried as I cried when I told them the end. Thanks for writing this book. I am anxiously awaiting the dragon one. Sincerely, Barbara Alvord

5.0 out of 5 stars This was a wonderful book....., Jun 15 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dawn Of Camelot (Paperback)
In this book we learn all about Megs life, how she became blind and the love of her life Conner.

In the beginning we follow Vivian as she goes to morn the loss of Meg, Merlin joins her and tells the story of how Meg left Avalon for adventure only to find more.

Upon entering the mortal world she is shot by Conner and almost dies. She recovers and soon gets to meet Author of Camalot and then Merlin the brother that she has only heard of but never seen. Here begins the fun.. Meg joins the fight with Conner, Author, and Merlin against the evil that has tried to take over Britian. Meg proves to be a powerful but hidden allie against the darkness. All the while tring to hide the secret of her true identity from her brother for fear that he will send her back through the portal. Things begin to get worse when Merlin become mysteriously ill and can not cure himself. Now Meg must choose between the freedom and love that she is just beginning to find with Conner or to let Merlin know the truth about who she really is and risk being forced to go back though the portal......

This is really a good book, Meg is a wonderful character strong and gentle at the sametime. Take time to read this book you won't regret it. But it is best if you read the ones before this to get a true feel of who Meg really is.
