Product Description

From Amazon.com

Eve Sumner has an uncanny resemblance to a long-dead woman with whom John Waters was once obsessively in love. The successful Mississippi oilman's college affair with Mallory Candler ended long before she was killed, but the mysterious Eve knows things about that affair that only Mallory could have known. That's more than a coincidence, since Eve is actually Mallory's reincarnation—or, at least, she's the corporeal body into which Mallory's restless soul seems to have migrated. Long before the bizarre denouement of this supernatural thriller--a departure for Iles, whose previous thrillers have been much more straightforward--the reader's sympathies have been engaged by Waters, a decent man whose best friend may be his worst enemy and whose past may destroy his future. Iles has many gifts as a storyteller, including ingenious plotting and solid pacing, both of which are on display here, but this foray into the occult doesn't show them off to best advantage. --Jane Adams --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From Library Journal

Going over old territory hot-and-bothered small-town Mississippi Iles tells the story of an obsessive love that seems literally to haunt John Waters. Waters has just encountered an enticing stranger who reveals something known only to his former flame, supposedly long dead. Dare we say that when the stranger is murdered, our protagonist finds himself in hot water?

4.0 out of 5 stars Sleep No More Will Keep You Awake Far Into the Night!, Jun 16 2006
By Cheryl Tardif "bestselling suspense author" (Edmonton, Canada) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
Sleep No More by Greg Isles is a soulful chiller of a thriller.

When John Waters, a happily married family man, is approached by a beautiful intriguing stranger who whispers one mysterious word--soon--his life takes an unexpected turn. Suddenly everything he knows as truth and reality spirals out of control as someone from his past reappears. But it is the way that she reappears that will shock you. And it is what she does next that will chill you even further.

This novel is rather difficult to review without giving away the plot or the key mystery, but it is sure to give you goosebumps and you won't look at those around you the same way ever again. It is a mix of horror and suspense, a bit of fantastical and a ton of thriller, and overall, it's one novel you won't want to miss. Greg Isles keeps the tension taut until the bitter end. Kudos!

4.0 out of 5 stars good- with just a bit too much oddness, July 17 2004
Greg Iles enchanted me frome the start of this book, with excellent characters, an ultra strange plot and most of all eortic fantasies. As the book progressed sex was all that was given for at least 5 chapters. Malorry, and johnny time and time again Iles takes the plunge into describing the sex. Perhaps he should have remebered the plot a little better. once he conquers this barrier the book begins to expand once again. If only Iles could have kept tyhe feeling alive throughout the entierety of the book. This is not his best work, that goes to the stellar Mortal fear, but it survives. A good read but dont expect too much, you won't lose sleep over it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing ending, July 9 2004
By A Customer
This book was absolutely engrossing for about the first 3/4 of the way through. Then it seemed like the author just got tired of the story and wrapped it up as quickly as possible ignoring the plot-line up until then. I was so disappointed by this book -- in fact, I almost felt cheated!

1.0 out of 5 stars Meh.
I bought this book because Stephen King rated it so highly on the cover, and the synopsis made it seem that it would be in the lines of a Stephen King-esque kind of 'thriller'... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Supernatural Thriller!

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange, somewhat suspenseful, insightful. Add 1/2 star.
I'm a Greg Iles fan. However, this book was not plausible, as most of his works are. After Dead Sleep, I'm sure Iles was drawn to the topic of multiplicity within one person -... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the time to read
Disappointing. That sums it up. Story seems to be a psycho-sexual knock off of "Fallen" and doesn't even come close to engaging the reader. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh no, not Iles.
Yes, I'm afraid it's true. Iles has resorted to the cheap writer's trick of the "supernatural" to spice things up. Whose idea was this-some agent's? Read more
