4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant new mystery series, Jul 12 2006
C.S. Harris has begun a super seires set in the Regency period of the underbelley of London. A time when Franch spies were in London as well as undercurrents of other dis-content. Her protagonist, Sebastian, is a Viscount wrongly? accused of murder, is likable as well as gaining our sympathy. C.S. captures the attitudes of the day very well.Being a French Revolution and 18th century scholar, the research is impecable. Action is compelling and entertaining as the poor Viscount chases the clues around London. There are three characters that can easily recur in future novels, Viscount Sebastian, his paramour, and the head of police, Lovejoy.
I look forward to the next book.
