Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Saving her best for last, Phillips wraps up her jocular Hot Zone trilogy with Sophie, middle sister of the Jordan clan and co-owner of the prestigious Manhattan-based sports management agency (and family business) the Hot Zone. After a gossip columnist reveals him as gay, big-time sports agent Spencer Atkins, whose PR firm recently merged with the Hot Zone, goes MIA—just three weeks before the pro football draft. With her entire family on leave (big sister Annabelle on maternity, little sister Michelle on her honeymoon and Uncle Yank Morgan after eloping with his assistant Lola), Sophie must deal with the crisis on her own. Enter star quarterback Riley Nash, Uncle Yank's client and Spencer's son from a failed marriage. Riley wants his biological father to keep their familial ties under wraps, and Sophie wants to ensure they don't lose any of Spencer's clients. Together, they track Spencer to Florida, while Sophie tries to suppress her attraction to "jock nightmare" Riley and things go haywire back at the agency—giving a Hot Zone adversary the upper hand. Followers of this smart series will slip right into this final book, but newbies might want to check out the earlier two first. (June)

From Booklist

In the concluding title in Phillips' Hot Zone trilogy, Sophie Jordan has learned to cope with life's stresses by compulsively immersing herself in the routine of her high-profile sports agency, and never more so than when dealing with Riley Nash, a hotshot quarterback notorious for his romantic escapades and rule-breaker attitude. When Riley's biological father, who is also Sophie's courtesy-title uncle, is outed for being gay, the repercussions will be devastating for both the Hot Zone agency and Riley's family, which includes his stepfather, a conservative senator about to run for the presidency, and his teen daughter. Can Sophie and Riley conduct some sleuthing and get the help they need to limit possible repercussions? Phillips has penned a charming, fast-paced contemporary romp-through-the-sheets starring two likable, if conflicted, characters and dealing sensitively with the political and social fallout of homosexuality, emotional rejection, and peer pressure in an enjoyable, upscale New York setting. This review is from: Hot Item (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the final story in the Hot Zone trilogy......and a great read. Sophie Jordan is the middle sister, and co-owner of family business. She is a highly organized person, who tries to manage everything and everyone. When it comes to light that Spencer Atkins, Uncle Yanks friend and recent business partner, is gay he disappears and goes into hiding. Sophie's world is thrown out of control. Riley Nash is a superstar NFL quarterback, who is also looking for Spencer, because he is his biological father, and Riley wants to make sure that Spencer in no way jeopardizes his step-father's political career as a Senator with aspirations of going to the White House. Riley has always been one to do things his own way, even if it meant not following the rules. When Sophie finally tracks Spencer to Florida, she is astounded to find that Riley has every intention of going with her to find him. This presents double trouble with Sophie as she has always been attracted to Riley but never wanted to follow up on it. But working together closely like they have to in order to resolve the situation has the sparks flying between them and the heat turned up. As well there is the teenage daughter of Riley's from his marriage break-up who he does anything in the world for. Weaving all these together and making an interesting read Carly has again penned a terrific love story to say the least. This final book of the trilogy has everything a true romantic is looking for, adventure, heat, resistance and more. I recommend this book, and if you have not read the others in this series, Hot Stuff and Hot Number then you are missing out on some real winners. This trilogy is as hot as the name infers.
