Richard Poe gives an expressive reading of this popular romance novel set in San Francisco. Sloan Fairchild has buried herself in running her bed-and-breakfast, afraid to open herself to more hurt after neglect by her parents and abandonment by her fiance. Carter Madison, her best friend's fiance, arrives, looking for a quiet place to finish his novel?and they find their attraction for one another impossible to deny. Finding happiness for themselves without betraying Sloan's friend seems an impossible dilemma. But never fear, the author will work it out. She gives us credible characters, a good many erotic love scenes, and the atmosphere of a seductive city. Poe handles emotionally loaded dialog and sexy scenes with grace and style, and has a deep, suggestive voice. An excellent production; recommended for fiction collections.?Melody Moxley, Rowan P.L., Salisbury, NC
