Product Description

From AudioFile

OK, so he saw her naked. But they were snowed in, she was barely conscious, and he saved her life. No matter. Sabrina Eversleigh's virtue has been compromised, and the only solution is for Philip Mercerault to marry her. Denica Fairman slips in and out of British dialect with the same ease that she creates the many characters in this classic romance. She reads the narrative passages in her native U.S. tongue, with exactly the right inflections of spicy humor, abject terror, moral outrage, irony and tenderness required by the entertaining text. Fairman's light touch and obvious comfort with the romance genre suit the story perfectly. R.P.L. (c) AudioFile, Portland, Maine

3.0 out of 5 stars I'm glad I didn't live back in those days..., May 4 2004
By ThisThatNEverything "thisthatneverything" (Columbus, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Offer (Paperback)
This book was enjoyable but I wouldn't read it again. I felt bad for Sabrina for the way society was back in those days but it's just the way it was. Sabrina wasn't a typical women for that time period & she didn't want to put up with Philip having a mistress & was told by him that he would do as he pleased & that she would just have to deal with it. While reading this book I knew in my head what it was like in that day in age & didn't really let that get to me & give it a 1 star like many readers did. I didn't rate it higher then a 3 star because I wish the author would've been more descriptive & I didn't care for the ending. The last chapter was very boring to me & wasn't very relative to what had gone on in the book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Alright, Jul 19 2004

This review is from: The Offer (Hardcover)
THis book had it's good moments and it really did have potential. Yet some parts were so confusting and the hero of the story seemed to changed once he wasn't alone in the cabin with her. Some loose ends are never tied up as well. If you just need a bit of very light reading this is your book just don't expect too much.

1.0 out of 5 stars Two Words: Oy Vey, Aug 18 2003
This review is from: Offer (Mass Market Paperback)
(If you don't know exactly what the title actually translates into, it means "Oh pain"). Coulter had a good idea, I will have to give her that much. But she just didn't do anything with it. At least, not anything that would make for a good book. The hero is everything that a girl shouldn't want in a man: He keeps a mistress (I have no problem with rakes being the heroes in a book, but not when they have a mistress after marriage) and he actually hits the heroine. And aside from that, I can't see at all why the heroine supposedly loves him. His only saving grace is his looks and the fact that he saved her--not enough for this odd couple. And the ending left me totally confused. Whatever you do, DO NOT read this book.
