Narrator Adam Henderson presents this scientific discussion of the relatively new discipline of understanding gender disorders. He shows how a skilled reader can pleasantly embellish the learning experience by reading a quote by a British doctor with a British accent, for example. Henderson mispronounces only one technical term in nine hours, so it is easy to recommend this book for professionals interested in a brief look at this field. The audiobook's pivotal case, a young boy whose penis was accidentally amputated during circumcision, creates an excellent matrix around which is woven an informative (and sometimes prurient) discussion of intersexual pathology and treatment.
