Product Description

From Library Journal

"Not all of our bodies were infected with Lyme, but Lyme affected all our lives," writes Lang, who is the mother of a teenage Lyme victim. She combines anecdotal experiences with factual documentation to illustrate the financial, physical, and emotional costs of this chronic disease. An articulate proponent for medical consumerism, Lang emphasizes the need for funding to escalate research and educational activities. Cowritten with an expert in Lyme disease, her book thoroughly describes the illness's diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative factors. While other recent titles such as Diana Benzala's Protect Yourself from Lyme Disease ( LJ 8/1/89) provide similar information, Lang's work is the most comprehensive. Well written and well documented, this is recommended for all consumer health collections.

4.0 out of 5 stars Coping with Lyme Disease, Third Edition by Denise Lang, May 29 2004
By Constance M. Siese - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I think this book was very well thought out. It has so much information packed in the pages that I am reading it a second time. The glossary would be great for a new lymie researcher. It explores all aspects including diagnosis, testing, political views, insurance problem and so much more. The Support Groups, Organizations and Lyme Newsletter information is a bit out of date. But since "Education Is Your Best Defense" you will be able to track down almost anything that you may need.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coping with Lyme Disease (2nd edition), Oct 28 2003
By Cathy Coughlan (Hyannis, MA United States) - See all my reviews
I've had Lyme Disease for many years and only recently was diagnosed. This was like reading a biography. I find this book very helpful and refer to it often to be sure "I'm not crazy-it's just Lyme". I've had trouble finding information for the layperson that addressed my concerns and this is the best I've found so far. I recommend this to patients and caregivers. I even bought another copy for my doctor.

5.0 out of 5 stars lyme disease in children, Sep 17 2003
By kevin d styer (Souderton, Pa.) - See all my reviews
I never read this book. I rated this book 5 stars from what other reviewers said about it and that it gives me hope that something can be done! I have just recieved the positive result of my three year old daughter's westren blot test. Can anyone give me some good news. The dear tick that was borrowed under her skin was found 4 months ago. But her IGMs are high showing an acute attack now. The doctor thinks she must of been bitten more recent. I am definatly buying this book.
