Product Description

Of all the folks in the mountain shacks, the Casteels were the lowest -- the scum of the hills.

Heaven Leigh Casteel was the prettiest, smartest girl in the backwoods, despite her ragged clothes and dirty face...despite a father meaner than ten vipers...despite her weary stepmother, who worked her like a mule. For her brother Tom and the little ones, Heaven clung to her pride and her hopes. Someday they'd get away and show the world that they were decent, fine and talented -- worthy of love and respect.

Then Heaven's stepmother ran off, and her wicked, greedy father had a scheme -- a vicious scheme that threatened to destroy the precious dream of Heaven and the children forever! --This text refers to the Mass Market Paperback edition.

Ingram

Follows the experiences of Heaven, one of the very poor Casteel children who are sold to different families by their father. --This text refers to the Mass Market Paperback edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Was actually bored with this novel but in the middle was OK, Jul 15 2004
This review is from: Heaven (Mass Market Paperback)
Heaven Leigh Casteel was the prettiest smartest girl in the backwoods despite her ragged clothes and dirty face...despite a father meaner than ten vipers....despite her weary stepmother who worked her like a mule. For her brother Tom and the little ones, Heaven clung to her pride and her hopes. Someday they'd get away and show the world that they were decent, fine and talented--worthy of love and respect. Then Heaven's stepmother ran off and her wicked greedy father had a scheme that threatened to destroy the precious dream of Heaven and the cildren forever!!!! His father sold each kids off to break them up. Heaven got placed with Kitty & Cal Dennison who basically freed her. Except for the extensive work that Kitty left Heaven to do basically work her like a slave. The only one the really paid attention to her was Cal who treated her like gold. Until Kitty had a nervous breakdown or so they thought that's what it was but really she had a tumor in her breast. At the end of the book, her father was trying to find her to patch things up with her and also she was in the process of flying to Boston to look for her two youngest brother and sister.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fave V.C. Series, Jul 3 2004
This review is from: Heaven (Mass Market Paperback)
This is by far the best series i have read by V.C. I couldn't put this book down until i read every word. When i did finish i could NOT wait to get the rest of the series!!! The drama between Heaven and her father, the devotion between Heaven and her siblings, the tragedy that falls onto them, and the first love for Heaven. This is a MUST read if you read V.C. Andrews. this is the series that made me go out and read all the other series!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A good book to a good author, Jun 29 2004
This review is from: Heaven (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has a taste of fantasy becoming reality in Heaven's mind. She always dreamed of a place where she didn't take a bath once a week or she didn't have to sleep on the floor. This book is about Heaven's dreams coming true. From being the scum of the hill to a girl richer beyond her dreams.

When her father sold her family one by one her family is torn apart. Heaven with the exception of Tom is trying to put the family together again without the man who tore them apart. There Pa. Of course in this story you have a girl who can't seem to do anything but be lazy. Fanny. You have two helpless children finding there way into a dream. Keith and Our Jane, and the lifelong friend, Tom.

When Heaven is sold she soon learns her new family is wretched and evil beyond her dreams except Kitty's husband, Cal. Cal was the one who understood her, or thats what she thought.

In this story is betrayal, love, romance, and drama. All of what V.C Andrews does best in her novels of suspense and unexpected twists. This is definitly a book to read if you want to be at the blink of head aches for taking so many words in. If you don't think dreams can come true. I'd definitly read this book as a reminder that god works in mysterious ways.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish
I suspect Flower's in the Attic was a lucky one-off. The rest of that particular series gradually worsened with each book. The 'Heaven' series is total trash. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Revolting.
From what I've read of her reviews, V.C. Andrews made a career of writing vulgar, sensationalistic melodrama. Soft-core porn might also describe it. Read more
