Product Description

From Amazon.com

Whether this is pregnancy number 1 or number 10, nothing makes it easier to connect with a growing baby than knowing exactly what magical development is happening every day. Filling the need for practical information, medical data, emotional and spiritual fuel, and even "pregnancy trivia," The Pregnancy Journal is easily one of the best books available for a woman or couple expecting a baby. The journal contains about half a page of information for each day from conception through delivery. Nutrition, how to avoid discomforts associated with pregnancy, childbirth customs in other cultures, and practical parenting tips are among the topics touched on. Many days in the journal have a great section called "Did You Know"; for example, from Day 49: "The baby's arms at this point are only as long as this printed 1." At the bottom of each page is a quote from a literary or historical figure; some are sentimental, some pithy, some humorous, all inspiring.

The information and quotes seem to invite musings and speculation on the miracle unfolding inside the womb; there is some space for recording data and thoughts, but if you want to write more than just a few lines every few days, you might want to have a blank journal to accompany The Pregnancy Journal. The format of this book makes it much more manageable and inviting than most books on pregnancy, and the information is made even more accessible by the inclusion of a glossary/subject index in the back. Don't wait until the shower to give this excellent resource and thoughtful gift--moms-to-be will want to have it from the very beginning. --Katherine Ferguson

Book Description

Since its first publication in 1996, The Pregnancy Journal has been the ultimate diary for expectant parents who want to follow their pregnancy day-by-day and step-by-step.

The new edition has been 20 percent revised for the 21st-century family. It offers all the same readable, down-to-earth and authoritative content but incorporates the latest in medical discoveries, including new dietary guidelines, a clearer picture of the baby's development in the womb, and up-to-date information on giving baby every advantage prior to birth. Great advice helps moms, dads and families through their second or third pregnancies, and new content helps siblings feel part of the experience.

With room to write and truly helpful information--without the predictable pastel ribbons or bows--this journal is both a valuable source book and an intimate keepsake for first-time parents and second-timers who used and loved The Pregnancy Journal the first time around. --This text refers to an alternate Spiral-bound edition.

By Jonathan Harwood (Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
It has great details of the dat to day development!! some information just make you feel like you are having this BABY Already rather than just being pregnant.
The only thing i think they canimprove is to put some pictures. that would make a perfect journal. I had a weekly pregnancy calendar with my older daughter with photos, that was amazing too!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have to learn about your baby's development!, Jul 27 2007
By Michelle R. Anderson "Michelle" (Aitkin, MN) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book because it looked interesting when I saw it at the store. When I started reading it I found it facsinating!!! My husband & I carpooled and it became our daily ritual for me to read outloud while he was driving. It was our time together learn about our baby's daily development. We were both amazed at how quickly the baby grows and how quickly things develop. We looked forward to the next day's development.

It also provided helpful hints on things such as how to get enough protein, or how other cultures do things. The other thing it has is spaces to write in weight, size and things like that.

It is a MUST HAVE!! It starts with day one of pregnancy and goes until the very end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, Dec 16 2005
By Heather E. Thomas (Fort McMurray, Alberta Canada) - See all my reviews
This book was absolutely fabulous. It is a journal, but full of the most amazing developmental information and helful hints for a new mom to be. The day by day explaination of development really appealed to my scientific mind and helped with recording and scrapbooking the whole preganancy.

A must for any new mom to be!
