From School Library Journal
Grade 4-7-- A new series following a similar format to and aimed at the same age group as the "Sweet Valley High" series (Bantam) and the "Baby-sitters' Club" (Scholastic). Liza, Chris, and Sam all work as babysitters at the Palm Pavilion Hotel. When there aren't enough children to keep them occupied, they are assigned other jobs. The focus is not on babysitting jobs; these are a means by which the trio meet people and engage in teenage fantasies. Chris desires romance in A Chance for Chris but instead finds a wounded dolphin. Liza risks her job for a part in a movie in Liza's Lucky Break . In True Blue , the girls are determined to meet their favorite rock star. In all, the characters are superficial and the writing is pedestrian. Librarians may find them useful for reluctant readers or time-passing recreational reading, but those desiring substance will need to look elsewhere. --Pamela K.
