Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

In the second installment of Drake's "bloody" trilogy, Jade MacGregor, a travel writer and publisher, barely survives a brutal vampire attack while on a tour of Scotland. A year later, back home in New Orleans, Jade has just reached some success with the publication of her first book, but this happiness is soon sidelined by disturbing events. Other survivors of the Scottish attack have begun turning up dead (heads severed and blood drained). If that weren't enough, Jade's dreams are invaded by images of the sensual, amber-eyed stranger who saved her life in Scotland. And Jade must make sense of all this even as her boyfriend is attacked and lies dying in the hospital. Fans of vampire tales may find this novel entertaining, but many will be turned off by the stiff dialogue, clumsy plotting and graphic gore. (Oct.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good read!, Feb 29 2004
I just finished reading the book. I was a bit concerned after reading some of the other reviews here but I decided to ignore them and decide for myself. I'm glad I did because this book was excellent! I sat and read page after page. I could not put it down! I am not a fast reader. It can literally take weeks to months for me to finish a book but this one took me no time at all. For the first time ever, I sat and read more than 200 pages in a sitting. It just captivated my attention!

This book is the second in Shannon Drake's vampire series. The story stands on its own so if you haven't read the first in the series, you won't necessarily miss anything. I haven't read the first yet but I definitely plan to. The characters became quite real to me. I enjoyed learning the progression and the twists in the story were perfect.

One little thing about the book though, at least my copy, is that there are many typos. It hasn't interferred with the story for me though

2.0 out of 5 stars Started out ok, Oct 16 2003
By A Customer
This book started out great!I read the last book Beneath a Blood Red Moon, and could not wait to read it.Blah! The book just falls apart towards the middle.I could not sat focused.Im not planning on reading anymore of her vampire novels. They just seem to repeat themselves.I think Drake is turning into the Danielle Steele of Horror/Romance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, Sep 23 2003
By J. C. stickler (Chicago Illinois) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book started out well, but it is as if the author got VERY distracted about half way through. I did finish it, though it was painful. Cheesy. Bad dialogue! For true vampire genre fans, give this one a pass. I have not read the others in this series, so I cannot comment on those. After reading this one, however, I have no interest in the others.
