From Publishers Weekly

If you took the bite and humor out of a Richard Condon novel, the result would be very like Ludlum's ( The Road to Omaha ) 18th book. As a child, beautiful Amaya Aquirre, witnessed the brutal murder of her Basque parents, after which she adopted the name of their killer, Bajaratt; the motto, Muerte a toda autoridad (death rules over everything); and the profession of mercenary terrorist. When her husband, a Palestinian terrorist, is killed, Bajaratt sends a signal to an underground organization named the Scorpios, to take "the heads of the four great beasts," i.e., the leaders of France, England, Israel and the United States. A mistress of disguise, this "pathological genius" takes the plum assignment of killing the U.S. president. Cutting a bloody swath through the Caribbean, Florida and Washington, she finally wangles a private meeting with him. But British and French Intelligence have hired her nemesis and one-time lover, retired American Naval Intelligence officer Tye Hawthorne, to follow her bloodsoaked trail and, inevitably, nail her. Instead of conveying tension, the book has the elements of a soap opera: lots of shouting, too much psychobabble, some grief therapy and plenty of misunderstandings. Despite the huge body count, as a thriller it falls flat. Major ad/promo; author tour.

From Library Journal

Ludlum fans who perhaps were frustrated by the author's last three novels (e.g., The Gemini Contenders , Audio Reviews, LJ 4/1/93) have a genuine treat in store with this one. The master of international intrigue is back, make no mistake about it. The producer offers an excellent abridgment, and the story is enhanced with music and read expertly by Robert Lansing. This is a riveting, fast-moving thriller full of violence, sex, thrills, and electronic wizardry--all the things one imagines for today's terrorists and intelligence agents. The story concerns Amayra Bajaratt, a beautiful terrorist, whose goal is nothing less than death for the heads of state of England, France, Israel, and the United States. Enter Tyrrell Hawthorne, ex-naval intelligence operative recruited by British military intelligence to stop "Little Girl Blood." Recommended for all popular adult collections.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Amazing Novel by an Amazing Author, Mai 18 2004
Par "neofox40" (St-Zotique, Quebec, Canada) - Voir tous mes commentaires
Being the first Spy Novel I've read in my life, I have to tell you all my first impression. My exact reaction was... WoW!?!? I like this stuff... Robert Ludlum does a great job at describing, it is easy to picture the scenes in your head. I say a movie would be easy to produce...

This book is about a retired commander that served the army until the incident in Amsterdam occured. He is called back after five years of not participating in the games spies play and he is on a hot pursuit of Amaya Bajaratt. A Flirtacious women who just lost her husband in Ashkelon. She has many connections and will do anything and everything possible, to murder the president of the United States.

My overall star rating is a 5 on 5.
This has been my first spy novel, and I intend to continue reading them. I can't wait to read The Bourne Identity, its critics are amazing!! :)
Enjoy!

3.0étoiles sur 5 More of the same, Mars 12 2004
Its not that I don't like Robert Ludlum, its just that this book really doesn't stand out. Its one of those books that you have in your possesion so you know you read it. At the end of the day you just can't recall a single detail about it.

If you want a book that the author put some serious thought into read "Bourn Idenity" or even "Road to Omaha".

Overall-This one just doesn't cut it

1.0étoiles sur 5 Horrid Writing, Mai 5 2003
Par Un client
You may like to curl up with a great action-packed spy novel. If so this is not the book. The characterization is weak. The plot is non-existent. The dialog downright silly. Ludlum has written some great spy novels....
