Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

In the 12th installment in Feehan's paranormal Dark series (Dark Symphony, etc.), she again creates a richly evocative fantasy world in which immortal Carpathian males search for their "lifemates" and battle soulless vampires. When young telepathic widow Corinne Wentworth walks into the bar where Carpathian Dayan, of the legendary band the Dark Troubadours, is playing, he immediately recognizes her as his lifemate ("He heard the soft murmur of her voice, and at once his world changed"). Difficulties lie ahead for the couple, not the least of which is that the men who murdered her husband are hunting her and her sister-in-law, Lisa. Corinne's weak heart is also a major source of conflict. The question of whether it will be strong enough to withstand her transformation from human to Carpathian may leave readers with real doubts as to whether a happy ending is in store for this well-matched pair. Though Corinne's delicate condition forces Dayan to treat her with extreme care, their love scenes still sizzle. Feehan's prose is occasionally melodramatic and her descriptions cliched ("Dayan resembled a sculpture of a Greek god"), but this may be her most emotionally engaging installment to date.

From Booklist

The twelfth in the Dark series featuring Carpathians, a blood-sucking superior race that battles both vampires and a fanatical antivampire organization, will be welcomed by Feehan's fans, who have superior abilities to suspend disbelief. Dayan, guitar player and singer in the band Dark Troubadours, finds the life mate who will keep him from dying or turning into a vampire in Corinne Wentworth, a pregnant widow with telekinetic powers. She has a heart condition that could end her life at any time, and she is also a target of the people who killed her husband. Dayan cannot turn her into a Carpathian until her daughter is born, but it turns into an epic struggle to keep her alive, with several Carpathians converging to save her. Diana Tixier Herald

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Series Rocks!, Mar 18 2004
By "loveseals" (Phoenix Az United States) - See all my reviews
I never read romance novels, but Feehan's Vampire series is very, very good! I stumbled upon the first book "Dark Prince" and plunged head first into the series afer that. It's got a little more sex in it than I am used to in my vamp books, but her writing skills are phenomenal. I highly reccommend her as an author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Melody, Jan 10 2004
By Mindy "Mindy" (Salem, Oregon United States) - See all my reviews
I found this book to be my favorite of all of Ms. Feehan's Dark Series. It had a thicker plot and a twist... the lead female has a failing heart. Also, unlike the others, this female has been married before, and isn't some quivering virgin. The romance between the main couple is both hot, and very sweet. This book is a great book for anyone who loves a romance novel with a twist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tender, Dec 13 2003
By Diane E. Griffith (Romulus, MI USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
With grace and tenderness Ms Feehan writes a moving love story of two people desperate for answers and running out of time. In her most compassionate and moving story Ms Feehan takes readers into a world where incurable illness can be cured, where life and love are eternal, where family stands together and the bond of blood is the bond of life, the world of the CARPATHIANS. Begin with Dark Prince and read through the series savoring each story and learning the way of the Carpathians. As you do you see the true gift Ms Feehan has for writing and how her talent has grown and blossomed. They just keep getting better and better. Way to go Christine. We LOVE YOU and we love those sexy Carpathian guys.

Goodness! Will the horror never end. And, I just don't mean in Christine Feehan's latest contribution to her Carpathians.

1.0 out of 5 stars dull book

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh, please...
Sorry, but the biggest draw for vampire porn is sex. This book had too little of it, and what it had wasn't very satisfying. Also, the typos in this book drove me crazy. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Moving but predictable plot!
Dark Melody was a moving story but had a predictable plot. I was a tad disappointed (but not much), as a rule I really enjoy this writer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not her best....
While I love the Dark series (Dark Fire is my favorite) this was not Ms. Feehan's best effort. One of the secondary characters, Lisa, is just plain annoying. Read more
