From Booklist
Gr. 8-12. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs throughout, this short biography describes O'Connor's childhood, education, career as a writer, and struggle with lupus. Along with the biographical information, the book includes summaries and critical comments on her novels and short stories. Quoted passages from O'Connor's letters provide her personal slant on events in her own ironic tone. Though published as part of the Great Achievers: Lives of the Physically Challenged series, the book does not overemphasize the role of lupus in O'Connor's life or the significance of her illness to her work. Useful as a basic introduction to an important American writer.
