These cards are not typical and do not apply to the Rider-Waite interpretations. To fully appreciate this deck you absolutely must read "The Kalevala", Finnish epic poems of the Kaleva District to understand the mythology and story on which the cards are based. If you do this, your appreciation of the deck will climb to a 5 star rating, but on it's own, you risk feeling like something is lacking, a little left in the dark, or feeling "blah" about the cards. Once you read "The Kalevala", you will feel "ah" and the images will make much more sense.
