Ties of Power also introduces a new species, the Drapsk, who cherish Sira for the same reason that many others fear her: Sira is the strongest, most dangerous telepath the Clan has ever produced.
Like the middle novels in most series, much of Ties of Power is concerned with complicating the plot. More conspiracies are revealed, a villain from Jason's past is introduced, and several problems will carry over to the next book. But the real heart of Ties of Power lies in Sira's gradual transformation from a character who reacts to the plots of others to a powerful person who makes decisions that will determine not only her own fate, but that of the Clan as well.
