a wonderful, non nonsense approach to dog breeding. Chocked full of common sense. If everyone applied this to thier breeding practices, there would be few bad dogs, and more excellent dog, and stars.

I had a hard time rating this one! I have owned the original book, Mary Roslin Williams' "Advanced Labrador Breeding" for years. It is unquestionably the finest text available for the aspiring breeder of Labradors, it is a masterwork.

Unfortunately, the recently published "Reaching for the Stars" is an embarrassing package of Williams' original work, with several odd chapters tacked on at the end. Those new chapters are oddly chosen listings of winning records of some dogs in some breeds in some countries.

Is this one of those dreadful, sycophantic efforts concocted to either ingratiate oneself with judges or future judges, or perhaps to blow one's own horn? Your guess is good as mine.

What I am sure of is that this book is only useful in that it makes available once again the text of "Advanced Labrador Breeding". It would be better, far better, if that was all it did.

I cannot more highly recommend this book if you are interested in breeding or showing Labradors. It is a godsend! Every Lab fancier should read this book. It made me seriously rethink my decision to show and breed Labradors, and I definitely recommend it to novice exhibitor and expert breeder alike.
