Berg's sweet, serene voice is perfect for narrating her retelling of the biblical story of Mary and Joseph. While remaining true to the traditional version of the story, Berg incorporates fictional details that will delight listeners. She vocalizes Christ's mother as a gentle, inquisitive, and beautiful young woman while Joseph is depicted as a strong and mature young man. The role of author as narrator benefits the listener by bringing the intended feeling and emphasis to each phrase. Berg vividly captures the hopes and fears of the young couple and makes it easy for the listener to visualize the courtship and its ensuing struggles.
