From Publishers Weekly
Encore Murder marks the encore appearance of the comedic duo Trixie Dolan and Evangeline Sinclair, who first flung rapid repartee at each other and everyone in their vicinity in Reel Murder . Now, real arrows rather than witty remarks fly about with an effect at once literally deadening--for one flamboyant actress--and literarily light and lively. When aging actress Griselda von Kirstenburg, a longtime rival of Evangeline's, decides to liven up her career by writing her memoirs, their appearance is too close to the publication date of Evangeline's own memoirs for the latter's comfort. Meanwhile, Trixie's daughter Martha--an archery ace who is highly strung with prenuptial jitters--just happens to be within clear shot of the murder victim and holding the quiver when the victim is inpaled by an arrow. Was she really instructing a young actor in preparation for a role requiring such skills? Trixie has no doubts as she aims arch remarks at all and sundry during her quest for the truth.

Back by popular demand are the two aging ex-movie stars Trixie Dolan and Evangeline Sinclair. Trixie Dolan, the high-kicking narrator of "Reel Murder", is in London sharing quarters with her friend Evangeline Sinclair. Evangeline is writing her memoirs when she discovers that an old rival is writing hers as well, and trouble begins. Because the truth is spread very thinly between them and who knows what secrets are going to be revealed? Trixie seems to be the only one who can ward off an explosion. As if that wasn't enough, Trixie's daughter Martha, having driven her mother half mad with ever-changing plans for her forthcoming wedding, makes things even worse by announcing that she isn't going through with the nuptials. Trixie, who is equal to most things, begins to worry about her powers of sheer survival. To top it all, death strikes the unhappy trio and the person whom Martha has every wish to see dead is murdered by a well-placed arrow. Once again Evangeline and Trixie must play detectives and they once again prove to be cast in starring roles.
