5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky but fun..., Mar 8 2004
By J. W. Caulfield (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
I have a strange liking for turn of the century fiction, so I picked this one up on a whim... and I loved it. As fas as second-rate detective stories go the plot isn't cheap (though it really isn't very innovative either), and there's plenty of action, the characters are quirky and likeable, the dialogues are thought-provoking and amusing at the same time, and, above all, it's fun to see how the impossibly erudite Dr. Thorndyke works the whole thing out. A quick read and a good break from Poirot.
