(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
Book 8 of the Mitch Rapp series

In the heart of Iran, billions of dollars are spent on the development of a nuclear program. Israel is eager to stop its development and launches one of the most daring espionage operations ever conceived, the attack leaves an environmental disaster in the middle of Iran's largest city.

The Iranian government is outraged and blames both Israel and the United States for the destruction and demands retribution. CIA director Irene Kennedy is dispatched to the region to meet her Iranian counterpart Azad Ashani. The meeting goes disastrously wrong resulting in total mayhem when Irene is kidnapped.

Mitch Rapp, an elite counterterrorism operative, backed by the president of the United States soon finds himself on a risky mission, a collision course with Hezbolah's master terrorist Imad Mukhtar. Mitch's mandate is to do whatever it takes, no question asked and avert an unthinkable catastrophe at any cost.

Once again, Mitch Rapp is brought into the world where conspiracies run deep, Vince Flynn descriptions of events are so tight and believable they seem to mirror world headlines. The never ending twists and turns of the plot swing back and forth on who is to blame for the disaster and what step has to be taken. The action is covered, from the Oval Office to the Supreme Council of Iran, to the gritty backstreets of Mosul in Iraq, to naval engagements in the Straight of Hormuz.

Rapp our protagonist is a delightful kind of a modern day James Bond, a lethal and brutal character more suited to today's era than the 50s Bond. He never misses a beat as he decimates the bad guys. The other familiar characters are as vibrant and realistic as ever and the new ones are portrayed with a chilling and evil aspect about them.

This thriller is exciting, relatively short and entertaining. The action is slow to start but once it did I had trouble putting it aside.

4.0étoiles sur 5 Super Hero Role for Mitch Rapp, Déc 27 2007
Mitch Rapp out thinks, out fights, out shoots, and out negotiates all the bad guys in Protect and Defend. If you enjoy seeing the villains get their just desserts, this is the book for you.

Israeli intelligence has placed an agent inside of Iran's nuclear weapons facility who pulls off a stunning act of sabotage. Naturally, Iran's leaders want to engage Israel and the United States.

Into the breach comes Mitch Rapp who conceives of a plan to use the sabotage to weaken America's enemies in Iran. But executing the plan is easier said than done after Arab terrorists pull a deadly surprise on the CIA. Racing against time, it's all up to Mitch to hold things together.

This story has a lot of suspense and moves forward at a breakneck pace. I found myself racing to reach the end. My heart was pounding while I did.

Naturally, the story is more than a little over the top . . . so you'll find credibility being bent and mangled here and there. But just go along with the fun and you'll have a good time.

Don't make the mistake of looking too closely at the details. Some of them don't work.

If you are concerned about things being done according to Hoyle in your thrillers, this isn't the book for you.

4.0étoiles sur 5 Solid thriller entertainment!, Oct. 31 2007

(REAL NAME)

Mitch Rapp is back in action and fans of this series no what to expect and should be pleased with the results. The story begins with a left over plot from Act of Treason, but then moves on to a new story involving the destruction of a secret Iranian nuclear weapons facility. The plot revolves around the twists and turns of might of done this, and who might take the blame: the Israelis? The U.S.? Maybe the Iranians themselfs? Things really heat up when Rapp along with the CIA chief fall victim to an ambush while on a mission to defuse the situation and the CIA chief is kidnaped. Rapp is in a race against time to save his boss...and lets nothing stand in his way! Not great literature but hard to beat for pulse pounding, action entertainment! And PS: when are we going to see Mitch Rapp in the Movies?
