When she pays Alex a surprise visit at his Paradise, Mich., cabin, their operations intersect with tragic results. Plot turnarounds and double-crosses ensure a startling conclusion.

Jim Bond gives a multilayered performance of this seventh Alex McKnight novel. As characters wrestle with real problems in believable ways, Bond never strikes a false note.
