Product Description

Myron Bolitar hasn’t heard from Terese Collins since their torrid affair ended ten years ago, so her desperate phone call from Paris catches him completely off guard. In a shattering admission, Terese reveals the tragic story behind her disappearance – her struggles to get pregnant, the greatest moment of her life when her baby was born...and the fatal accident that robbed her of it all: her marriage, her happiness, and her beloved only daughter.

Now a suspect in the murder of her ex-husband in Paris, Terese has nowhere else to turn for help. Myron heeds the call. But then a startling piece of evidence turns the entire case upside down, laying bare Terese’s long-buried family secrets...and the very real possibility that her daughter may still be alive.

In grave danger from unknown assailants in a country where nothing is as it seems, Myron and Terese race to stay a step ahead of Homeland Security, Interpol, and Mossad. Soon they are working at breakneck pace not only to learn what really happened to Terese’s long-lost little girl – but to uncover a sinister plot with shocking global implications.

“[A] compulsive page-turner... The ‘this could be me’ factor lends poignancy to the thrills and chills.” – Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“[Coben’s] genius is to make the seemingly mundane terrifying.” – Booklist (starred review)

5.0 out of 5 stars Long awaited return of Myron Bolitar!, April 27 2009
By Bill Pullman "Book reviewer" (USA) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Long Lost (Hardcover)
"Long Lost" starts with Myron receiving a early morning phone call from a long lost lover Terese Collins, who mysteriously disappeared from his life over seven years ago. She is in Pairs, her husband is missing and she is pleading for Myron to come help her. Her tragic story has Myron mystified and a bit perturbed, but he cannot help himself and is soon on the ground in Pairs. The search however is hardly begun when Myron and Terese are arrested by French police, Terese's husband is not missing any more, he has been murdered and guess who the prime suspect is? This of course is too simple a plot line for Mr. Coben, It seems DNA found at the scene matches Terese's daughter who died years earlier. The plot thickens from here and I won't give anymore away, but Myron and Terese are being hunted by more than one organization, and keeping ahead of those trying to track them down, while at the same time solving the mystery of what happened to Terese's daughter.

In my opinion this may be the best Myron Bolitar novel to date. The twist and turns had me spinning by the final pages, Coben is a master at changing directions and being able to hide plot turns that the reader does not see coming. Coben also has a talent for developing unforgettable characters, something not always seen in this genre, action, suspense, and thrills are typically more important than character development. Coben is able to weave together both! (In "Long Lost" both Win and Esperanza make great appearances). I love how this author is able to take the everyday character and put them in terrifying situations and make it belivable! If you like Coben's style do check out the cult thriller A Tourist In The Yucatanfor more of everyday folks in terrifying situations!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Work by Harlan Coben, Aug 26 2009
By Loren Keim "Loren Keim" (Allentown, PA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Long Lost (Hardcover)
From Loren Keim, author of How to Sell Your Home in Any Market:

For those of you who have not read the Myron Bolitar books, they are exceptionally well written, full of humor, intense action and surprise twists and turns.

The long awaited and eagerly anticipated "Long Lost" installment of the series is one of the best. It is simply Harlan Coben at his best! (As I side note, I was surprised and disturbed by the reviews of 1 star that complained about the price or the purchase method. Reviews are meant for the books! And this book was great!)

Ten years ago, Myron Bolitar, sports agent, retired FBI agent, mystery solver and attorney, had dated TV personality Terese Collins. It didn't work out. Now she's returned, calling Myron from Paris because her ex-husband has been murdered and, of course, she is the primary suspect.

Worse, there is DNA at the scene and it belongs to her dead daughter. The twists and turns in this international search for the truth brings up truths that may have been better left buried (so to speak).

This is an excellent book and Harlan Coben at his absolute best! You'll rediscover the rich psychopathic but ultimately loveable Windsor Lockwood the third, the ex-wrestling champ turned attorney and gorgeous Esperanza, and the writing style that has made Harlan a best selling author.

3.0 out of 5 stars Win lost, Long Lost loses, Sep 21 2009
By Mark Young (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Long Lost (Hardcover)
I am a huge fan of the Myron Bolitar series in general, but I am disappointed in this latest outing. It felt too forced, Myron was too Myron and there just wasn't enough Win. Not to mention he went back to a device (discovering you have a teenage child you never knew about until now) he's already used earlier in the series. Doesn't it all seem a little bit too much like a soap opera? Someone he loves goes into hiding for eight years and turns up out of the blue with a problem he can help solve? The female love interest whom he has been seeing since the last novel just melts away into the ether at the beginning of the book so he can pursue the one who got away with no moral compunctions? And the terrorist bad guys were so topical, so ripped from the headlines. No sports theme, no problems befalling once of his customers. The French detective was good, loved the familiar things like yoo-hoo and martial arts prowess, but overall, not worth the wait.
