Product Description

Product Description

1902. A Frontispiece and numerous other portraits with descriptive notes by Octave Uzanne. Written by the son of Alexandre Dumas, The Lady of the Camellias is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800's, and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. Unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge that she was a good woman at heart.

Ingram

The tragic but doomed love of Marguerite and Armand, told so passionately in La Dame aux Camelias, became a great love story. 2 cassettes --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes love is not enough, Aug 2 2006

This review is from: Lady of the Camellias (Audio CD)
A wonderful and engrossing story that promises to entertain to the very last spoken word. Ah, Paris in the 19century, a time for romance and pleasure. A man meets a courtesan who captivates him from the very start and together they embark on a love affair. The past of the woman in question though foreshadows everything they do as does her illness and one day she must make a vital decision.
The production is read by multi-readers and is enhanced with music and sound effects. A great listening experience to savor this love story. Highly recommended. A+
