Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

The Cirque Du Freak saga continues with book four, Vampire Mountain by Darren Shan. Here, fans find Darren and Mr. Crepsley on a trip to the very seat of the bloodsuckers' empire, where a meeting with the Vampire Princes puts Darren in a precarious position. Ages 10-up.

From School Library Journal

Grade 5-8-Darren Shan, the loquacious vampire's assistant, narrates another blood-and-guts tale. Having tracked a horror-movie-stereotype vampire in their previous adventure, Darren and his master, Larten Crepsley, take another hiatus from the bizarre circus of the series title to make a pilgrimage to the Halls of Vampire Mountain to meet with the generals and princes in charge. The peregrinators are accompanied by a pair of ugly, speechless Little People who carry an ominous message for the council from their "old as time itself" master, Mr. Tiny. The road is perilous, of course, and getting to their destination is only half of the problem. Darren's biggest challenge, following a run-in with a crazed grizzly bear and a foolhardy confrontation with a rare, Xena-like vampiress, comes in defending his maker, the one who inexplicably violated the proscription against blooding a child. While the previous trio of "Cirque du Freak" books could each relatively stand alone, this fourth entry marks a definite transition, a critical segue into adventures to come that will revolve around Mr. Tiny's foreboding and Darren's impending Trials of Initiation (book nine is already in the works in the U.K.). The book ends with a "to be continued-" teaser along with an excerpt from the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book, May 7 2006
By A Customer
This review is from: Vampire Mountain (Hardcover)
I started the cirque du freak series and was really impressed. This being the 4 book i am still satisfied. I keep thinking the author is going to run out of ideas but yet he dosn't he always has something new in his mind. But i recommend that you start out with a living nightmare (the first book) because if you start here you will probaly be a little confused.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Jun 4 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Vampire Mountain (Paperback)
In this book Darren goes to be put in front of the vampire princes. When he has to make the journy to the moutain he comes face to face with a bear and wolves. He has to prove to the princes and his mentor that he can be a vampire and most imporant he has to prove to himself that he can belive in himself.
I personaly love the series. I recomand that u read them in oder startin with "Cirque Du Freak; A living nightmare". It keep me readin till late at night this isn't as action packed as some of them but it has some good parts in it.
The worst part is it leaves u just waitin for the next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, Jun 3 2004
This review is from: Vampire Mountain (Paperback)
Most of the time I was sleeping of bordem. Waiting for action, but the only ation I got was me drooling on my pillow.

Sometimes there was ation but lasted for about a minute, thenanother 100 pages for a little more action.

Wasn't pleased.
