"Rebecca Brandewyne is one of the best writers of our time!"

Book Description

When the mysterious package arrives on her doorstep, Bryony St. Blaze knows instinctively that her life is about to change forever. For inside, she finds her father's research, gathered from his years of devoted study to an ancient, magical book. And after reading the material, Bryony is forced to conclude that her father's death was no accident. He was deliberately murdered by a secret order known as the Abbey of the Divine -- who are after the missing book.

Now, determined to track down the killers herself, Bryony travels to Scotland to find Hamish Neville, a historian with whom her father had an ongoing correspondence.

After an attempt is made on Bryony's life, the two are forced to go into hiding, completely dependent on one another for their very survival. Piece by piece, they painstakingly assemble the puzzle to locate the lost book. But time is running out. Can they unlock the mysteries of the hidden treasure before the secret order catches up with them?

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, Jun 21 2006
By A. Gupta "book maven" (SFO, CA) - See all my reviews

If you are looking for a romance novel, then steer clear of this one. However, if you are looking to get a peek into history and be intrigued by centuries of ancient knowledge (even if some of the hypothesis in the book may well just be that) this is the book for you. If you liked the Da Vinci Code, you will LOVE this one - although be aware that this is not about the Holy Grail. Hard to put down and will leave you thirsting for more of the history.....

4.0 out of 5 stars great book, Jul 11 2002
By A Customer
I thought this was a wonderful book. The plot is interesting and quick paced (sometimes I was overwhelmed by the rapid evolution of the characters' thoughts). Although the romance part was practically nonexistent, the concept behind the book was enough to keep me reading. I was blown away--really. I just finished reading the book and can't get over it. The last few sentences really inspired me. I applaud Ms Brandewyne for taking a tricky concept and doing all the necessary research in order to make it work. I am in complete awe.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read!, May 11 2002
By A Customer
I really loved this book, and I guess what I find interesting is that the people who've posted here who clearly didn't like it have also posted a lot of misinformation about it--like they just didn't get the story or something. It makes me wonder if they actually even read it--or just skimmed through what they couldn't understand. Bryony is an archaeologist, and Hamish is a history (not an English) professor. The quest is for the Knights Templar treasure, not the Holy Grail. The historical vignettes are not just there to keep track of the missing book (whoever thought that really missed the whole point of the book). My recommendation is that if you are into intelligent plots and characters, with a dash of wit and romance, you buy this book. You won't be sorry, as it is a wonderful story! Ms. Brandewyne is to be commended for her excellent research, writing and thoughtful conjectures. She just keeps on getting better and better. For me, Destiny's Daughter is definitely a keeper!

2.0 out of 5 stars Read another Brandewyne, not this one!
Byrony and Hamish had potential to be an interesting romance couple to read about. Byrony was an intelligent archologist. Hamish was a quirky English professor. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant romance!

I don't know why anyone has given this book less than a 5-star rating, except that if you want a love story full of a lot of sex scenes, this book isn't that. Read more
