Books in Canada
History buffs and art lovers will relish Posters of the Canadian Pacific. Authors Marc Choko and David Jones give a brief and serviceable history of CP and its marketing via the coloured print. But the 300 posters themselves are the glory of the book, most reproduced in colour and many given an entire page in this oversized tome. It is exhilarating to see in these images from a century or so ago-the shameless pride in Canada as a new country full of splendour and beauty-and worth remembering that, for those millions abroad, who never came here, perceptions of our country were shaped by these virile advertising vehicles.

More than just a beautiful volume of stunning images, Posters of the Canadian Pacific is a cultural time capsule.
