From Library Journal
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Buchanan presents Miami crime reporter Britt Montero's second adventure following Contents Under Pressure (Hyperion, 1992). Montero reports the activities of a serial rapist, becoming his target in the process, and investigates a series of deaths of murder suspects whom the police were never able to charge. Buchanan is very good at capturing the flavor of South Florida and Miami, and her experience as a crime reporter makes her characters convincing. Although danger and suspense abound, this title is not as dense or as suspenseful as Montero's first outing; even so, it's a fine addition to the genre. Susan Burr's reading seems a bit upbeat for the material at times, but on the whole she makes a good showing. Recommended for most popular collections.
