Product Description

This kit is based on the system of Enochian magick, as revealed to John Dee, the court magician of Queen Elizabeth I. Forecasting the future is only one of the powers of this system, which encourages and enables the practitioner to delve into an inner self and discover destiny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Tarot Deck, Dec 16 2000
By Evertoth (Memphis, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This is a very useful tool for those into Enochian magick- although Gerald Schueler has an unusual approach to the topic in many of his writings this tarot deck is helpful in meditation, ritual work, etc.. the art work by Glassman is absolutely beautiful

4.0 out of 5 stars The Enochian Tarot -Review, April 18 2000
By A Customer
"Enochian Magick was first presented to the public in modern times by Dr. John Dee, the court astrologer to Queen Elizabeth I of England...The net result of Dee's research was a series of tablets sectioned into squares with runes on each square. These runes are the letters of the Enochian alphabet. They spell out the names of those dieties who preside over the regions that are symbolized by the squares. The tablets were thus devised as maps of the invisible spheres that surround our physical world." -The Enochian Tarot, G. & B. Shueler.

This Book devotes two pages to each card in an accompanying deck -essentially it is the explanatory book to the deck. Unless you have bought the deck beforehand this book is not really useful and really the two should be sold together. Unfortunately, the publishers have not issued a second printing of the deck (to my knowledge). I had great difficulty in the past trying to find the cards as the first ed. is almost impossible to get (even the artist of the deck had a limited number left in stock at her store). I think Llewellyn have promised to re-release the deck. Each two pages of the book show a picture (B&W) of one of the 86 cards and an explaination on the opposite page. There are good summaries describing the system of Enochia and how to master Enochia Magic by the method of tarot divination. The book describes a deck which is similar to other traditional style decks with a Major Arcana and then a minor arcana of energies; Air, Earth, Fire and Water -but beyond this similarity the card explore Enochian beliefs. I found the book useful and informative about the different hierarchies existing within Enochia -which is what the cards essentially depict I think. The book does not explain the cards to a depth found in the better tarot books and could do with putting into words the rich personalities found within the cards. But this might defeat the purpose as Enochia is essentially about skrying and creating a dialogue with the cards (most of which are dieties and beings from the non-physical realm) for yourself. Check it out.
