5.0étoiles sur 5 A GOOD PORTAYAL OF ANCIENT EGYPT LIFE, Avril 8 2009
This book sat on my bookshelf for about two years before I read it. Once I started it I could not put it down. I have always had a passion for ancient Egypt, and plan to go there one day.
It encouraged me to read the rest in the series, which I am currently doing.
I have been a Pauline Gedge fan for a long time, starting with Child of the Morning.
She also lives near Wainwright Alberta where my daughter-in-law used to cash out her groceries at the grocery store.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Another hit by Gedge, Juil 3 2008

This book is wonderfully written. As early as Chapter two you begin to connect with the characters and you can't help but be drawn into this family saga and the various trials and tribulations that are cast upon them. I found myself becoming fond of the characters and had serious trouble putting the book down. What I also really liked about this story is that it is very realistic, and based on the history of the times it takes place in.

Again, in Hippopotamus Marsh just like in her book "Child of the Morning" Gedge makes Egypt come alive, and it is easy to feel like you are there watching the saga unfold in front of you, she is so discriptive. I was quite impressed and I am already beginning Volume 2 of this trilogy.

2.0étoiles sur 5 Oops
Oops, sorry, I meant that review for The Oasis, which is the 2nd book in the trilogy. This first one was OK, but too drawn out. The whole series is mundane.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Gedge again, always welcome
The three volumes of Gedge's latest series are all equally delightful. Set at the end of the 17th dynasty, and the beginning of the glorious 18th, Gedge's well-informed prose... Read more
