4.0 out of 5 stars Soyfoods cooking - also for the rest of us!, Nov 17 2002
By Søren Jensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) - See all my reviews
You do not have to be put off by the title of this book. I'm neither menopausal, nor a woman, and I do find this a great cookbook, as any of Bryanna's books. This book, however, emphasizes a whole lot more of the health benefits of incorporating soy in your diet, not only for easing menopausal discomforts, but the thorough documentation should also reassure those who believe that it's impossible to get enough calcium through a vegan diet. And to those who claim not to like tofu - you obviously have never tried any of Bryanna's recipes! If you're new to vegan cooking, this is a great introduction on a daily use of soymilk, tofu, and textured soy protein, in everything from your breakfast meals, lunch, snacks, dinner entrees and desserts - I can strongly recommend you try out Bryanna's Lasagne Al Forno Bolognese if you want proof how wonderful vegan food can taste! You will not miss neither meat nor cheese in this one! Bryanna's low-fat guacamole, eggless egg salad, mac and cheese, Italian stew, pineapple sweet and sour, not to mention a fabulous soy and seitan turkey, are just a few of my favourites, there's simply something for everyone! A number of the recipes have appeared in Bryanna's other books which I can also strongly recommend you to get ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Advice Good Food, July 13 2000
By wini (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews
I am always excited when a new cookbook by Bryanna is published. There is so much mis-information and hype around soy and menopause. Bryanna has done a great service to women (and their families and friends) by presenting her well-researched information in such a clear, realistic manner. The recipes make wonderful food, no surprise to anyone who has cooked from her other books. Anyone who would like to learn more about cooking with soy will benefit from this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great cookbook for everyone!, April 1 2000
By J. Bonner (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Although Bryanna might have aimed this cookbook at menopausal women its content would benefit everyone - vegans and non-vegans alike.

Up-to-date health advice and suggestions are included at the front of the book but its main appeal lies in the wide range of delicious recipes that all include the wonder food, soy.

I am nowhere near menopausal age but I bought this simply because I love Bryanna's books in general. I think the title might put some people off before they check out the content, but do take more than a peek because it's definitely worth it. Bryanna Clark Grogan has come up trumps again!
