About the Author
Julian Thompson served for thirty-four years with the Royal Marines, retiring as a major-general. He commanded the 3rd Commando Brigade that carried out the initial landings to repossess the Falkland Islands in 1982, and saw action in most of the battles that followed. He is now a visiting senior research fellow at the Department of War Studies, King's College, London. He is the author of The Imperial War Museum Book Of Victory in Europe, and the Imperial War Museum Book of the War at Sea.
