Product Description

In 1878 Adam Burke leaves Philadelphia for North Platte, Nebraska. The young lawyer wants to start a new life after being spurned by his fiancee. Adam also has another reason to leave -- he accidentally ran over and killed a woman named Nancy Mason in a thunderstorm. In North Platte he finds success in more ways than one when Rachel Mason answers his ad for a mail order bride. Adam considers the last name an odd coincidence -- but only after their marriage and after they both come to the Lord do they discover the awful truth: Adam killed Rachel's mother. Thanks to a pastor's intervention, Rachel overcomes her shock and bitterness to forgive Adam, just as God forgives us all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring!!!! Terrible! Don't bother!, Jun 2 2003
This is my second mail order bride series book. Once again I am disappointed. Where is the mail order bride part? It comes in at the last couple of chapters. This book was sad and depressing.
I found my self just skimming the pages after chapter 15. I was saying to my self when is the good part going to happen? The word mail order bride is first brought up in chapter 15 and there is only 24 chapters in the entire book. The last few chapters had some romance but not allot. The last few chapters were very sappy and so fake. I could here the violins in the back ground (argue).
Also reading this book the characters got confusing. After he breaks up with girl number 1 and runs over girl number 2 mother I was little lost. I thought he had hit girl number 1 mom.
There was not a good flow from one Character to the other.
If you want to read a real mail order bride (Romance Christian) type book read Hope (Brides of the West 1872, Book 3) by Lori Copeland. Now that was a real Christian romance book that you can't put down!

By A Customer
I love anything by Al Lacy! Every time I read one of his books, I say to myself, "This one is the best", but then he comes out with another one, and it's even better! A very touching book!
