What would you do if faced with proof that your fiance had cheated on you? Probably what Sabrina Scott does: break off the engagement. Sabrina's father goes one step further. He fires Clark Hunter from his position in the newspaper's sports department. But Clark insists that the pictures sent to Sabrina are fakes, and he practically stalks her in his desperation. Sabrina takes a job in Las Vegas; Clark gets a new job at another Chicago paper, and months go by. Eventually Clark's surly disposition and the paper's need for a reporter at the upcoming prizefight in Las Vegas bring him and Sabrina back into proximity, and her reaction to his presence swings between roiling anger and near swooning. Winters' characters' responses to the situation are a bit over the top. More interesting is the discovery that one of the prizefighters will take a dive, putting Clark in danger as he investigates a story that will rock the sports world.
