From AudioFile

Young, pregnant, and recently widowed, Leigh finds herself on a deserted highway when her car breaks down. What were formerly minor labor pains increase, and she realizes she's about to deliver. When the mysterious and rugged Chad Dillon arrives in a derelict pickup, the desperate mother-to-be accepts his help, an act that sets the scene for romance. Overall, this is a disappointing story. Still, Joyce Bean handles gender changes with skill, credibly delivering even Chad's baritone. While Brown's depiction of the birth is idealized, Bean does her best to portray it with realism. 3.0étoiles sur 5 A Little Too Slow For My Tastes..., Juil 14 2003
Par Tracy Talley "Book Addict" (Boston, MA USA) - Voir tous mes commentaires
(REAL NAME)
What I thought would be a very different type of story turned out to be a typical romance with nothing new to add to the genre.
It bogged down in some parts and I found myself sighing and glad it wasn't that long of a book. Not typical for me reading a Brown book.
The romance was contrived and the heroine was likeable at the beginning, but I lost interest in her halfway through. She got on my nerves with her 'past grievences' and hangups with the hero.
The hero was very likeable and I have no real complaints with him per say, except maybe that he came on too strong considering the circumstances.
I could see the plot easily and figure it out from about the second chapter how it was going to end and that disapointed me.

The heroine Leigh finds herself stranded alone and in labor on a deserted stretch of Texas highway when a dusty and rugged looking stranger pulls up to help.
Losing her husband eight months before, she isn't ready for another man in her life, but the gods seem to think otheriwse and place Chad Dillon in her path.
Having a husband who was killed on the job, she was looking for a 'safe' man, not the mysterious guy with the gorgeous blue eyes who seemed to be hiding his profession.
Keeping his past a mystery, Chad attempts to heal her broken heart, but can love conquer the thing that keeps her from him?

4.0étoiles sur 5 Sweet romance!, Avril 10 2003
Par janlouise (Ruston, LA United States) - Voir tous mes commentaires
There are times you want to have to think and figure things out when reading and then there are times you want to just sit back and enjoy a sweet romance. This is one of the books. I really enjoyed it. Leigh is a widow, pregnant, and traveling by herself when she goes into labor. Unable to go any further, she pulls over on the side of the road wondering what was going to happen next. Chad headed back to town after being on his day off from work & mechanicing on his airplane sees a woman in a car pulled over on the side of the road. He realizes she is in need when he approaches the car and sees her having contractions behind the steering wheel. He takes over from there to move her to the back of the truck and helps deliver Sarah, the baby girl. Love at first sight. After getting Leigh and Sarah to the hospital, Chad delivers a dozen roses to her room, sees that her parents are called to come, says goodbye with a fast by strong kiss- only to show up on her doorstep 4 months later to see how mother and baby are doing and to see if he can capture their hearts. Boy, do sparks start to fly! Both characters are extremely likable. Sweet, sweet story!

5.0étoiles sur 5 A hero to die for!, Mars 2 2003
Par Un client
This book is so well written that you find yourself in love with the very handsome, wonderful chad dillon. I hated to see the book end. A basic plot and basic story line but a heart tugging escape, for sure.

a typical Sandra Brown book. Interesting characters, decent plot, and a good story. It was not one of my favorites (her newer books are), but a good read for a lazy day.
