Product Description

From Booklist

Thrilling horse racing is at the center of this twelfth installment in the Roman Mysteries series. While visiting Rome, young friends Flavia, Jonathan, Nubia, and Lupus help an orphan find a job in a stable and become embroiled in intrigues surrounding high-stakes chariot races. Magical curses, disguised identities, and extrasensory visions deepen the heart-pounding action, which begins without much background scene-setting, making this a better choice for readers who know the series. As always, Lawrence's classical-world details are vivid and fascinating; this title includes a map of ancient Rome, a diagram of a chariot and the Circus Mazimus, and a full glossary. Engberg, Gillian

Product Description

The Roman Mysteries Book XII

A RETURN TO ROME.  Flavia and her friends experience the danger and exhilaration of chariot racing in the circus Maximus.

It's September AD 80.  Flavia, Jonathon, Lupus and Nubia are back in Rome to celebrate the Festival of Jupiter at the town house of Senator Cornix.  A famous racehorse has gone missing just days before important events at the Circus Maximus.  With their new companion Scopos, the young charioteer from Delphi, the friends must infiltrate rival facing factions to discover who stole the horse, and why.  Violence, deception, secret identities and a deadly curse are all ingredients in this twelfth installment of the exciting series.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unexpectable twist, Oct 24 2006
By Yusra "Yusra" (Toronto, Canada) - See all my reviews
It may look as if I am a "nerd" to the Roman Mysteries Series" because i've been reviewing all the other books in the series. But really, I'm not! CCAROLINE LAWRECE IS A GREAT AUTHOR.
Although i'm not very much interested in horses, this book was unlike any other I've ever read.
Reading this book, I found some parts a bit confusing..... but then i think I WAS reading too fast cause i had been looking forward to this book for over 6 months!!! Anyways, to other readers who also find some of the parts confusing, I can't really do anything about it except to tell you that its all WORTH IN THE END!! The end is something that I least ezpected.... thogh i had my suspicions at the beginning.... well i guess i shouldn't be telling you anymore cause you really should read the book yourself if you want to know what i'm getting at! READ, READ, READ AND READ!!!!(only caroline's books!) ^_^ Its an excllent book! and shes an excellent author! XD
