London became a socialist and his writings reflect this change in his political views. In 2013 a plague has come to Earth. The story is set in 2072 when the earth is depopulated. People die within one hour of getting sick so the laboratories have little chance of discovering a cure. Looting and crime are rampant. Planes fall from the sky when the pilots die. Forty people are left in the San Francisco area. This post-holocaust novel is one of the best ever written. It's prophetic nature along with vivid imagery make it a classic not to be missed.
