Product Description

Six years after Lt.-Colonel Anton Vereshcagin's 1st Battalion, 35th Imperial Infantry Regiment (Rifle) quelled the revolt that marooned it on Suid-Africa, another fleet appears in the skies: Earth has not forgtten Suid-Afrika, nor has the Japanese company that once ran the planet.
The fleet is to reintroduce what the Japanese think of as order--ever higher production norms for the metals that make interstellar flight possible, and compelled obedience to the company's rules. There are no Caucasians among the new forces, and even the soldiers of the Manchurian regiment are led by the Japanese.
Despite Lt.-Col. Vereschagin's efforts to prevent bloodshed, war eventually begins, and he sides with the colonists. Vereschagin realizes that Tokyo cannot overlook the loss of a planet to rebellion; it has an interstellar empire to protect. No, Tokyo must be convinced that further attacks are dangerous--and to do that, Vereschagin has a plan.... --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Among the best military SF ever written, Mai 18 2004
Believable likeable military characters; asynchronous warfare that would have impressed Joyn Boyd.

(REAL NAME)
Robert Frezza, who is a military veteran, writes a very believable and engaging sequel to his first book ``A Small Colonial War'' that told the story of Lt. Col. Anton Vereshchagin's 35th Imperial Rifle Battalion and its efforts to put down a revolt on the colonial planet of Suid-Afrika. Now, the Japanese empire has returned in the form of another fleet and Vereshchagin's men, who have integrated themselves into the Suid-Afrikan body politic and society, must decide whether to accept the yoke of Imperial control or rebel along with the planet. Great development of characters and fine storytelling.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Top line military SF, Mars 10 1999
Par Un client
"Fire" is a worthy sequel to A Small Colonial War. Robert Frezza's universe and characters are equal to David Weber's Honor Harrington series and arguably are even better. Superb military SF.
