Rosie is frantic with worry and tracks him down, to the prison where he is held for many months. Danny will never be the same again, and realises he will never be free of his promise to fight. He takes Rosie and their small daughter to what they hope is safety in Birmingham – but the fight to survive has just begun, as nobody will employ an Irishman when there’s a war on. Danny and Rosie will find their resources, spirit and love for each other are tested to the utmost limit before the future is bright again.

About the Author
Anne Bennett was born in a back-to-back house in the Horsefair district of Birmingham. The daughter of Roman Catholic, Irish immigrants, she grew up in a tight-knit community where she was taught to be proud of her heritage. She considers herself to be an Irish Brummie and feels therefore that she has a foot in both cultures. She has four children and four grandchildren. For many years she taught in schools to the north of Birmingham. An accident put paid to her teaching career and, after moving to North Wales, Anne turned to the other great love of her life and began to write seriously.
To celebrate the release of her powerful new saga Mother's Only Child, Anne Bennett will be doing a promotional tour of Wales and The Midlands.
