4.0 out of 5 stars An Abstract Word Picture of History, Sep 15 1999
By Rev. Charles Vesely (Townsville, Queensland, Australia) - See all my reviews
Just as one may view an abstract painting, this book is a word abstract of history of a beautiful city. Germain takes her readers on a tour of the city, but it is more than a tour of place but a tour of class, status and the sorrow of the people. Each location is representative of a class of person and the suffering which they have endured.

As one born in Prague, it resinated in a very personal way. Germain gives the opportunity for all to experience Prague in a special way.

A wonderful book of prose, and reflection. A must read for those who wish to explore life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Weeping Woman is a haunting book, Dec 17 1997
By A Customer
This book reads like an extended prose poem - very lyrical and beautiful, at times surreal, and not plot-driven. The weeping woman is the ethereal embodiment of the sorrows of Prague, haunted by its past. I can recommend it for those who like poetry and atmospheric, mysterious subject-matter. The language can be convoluted at times, but give it a try.
