4.0étoiles sur 5 girl power, Aoû 20 2001
i found this book to be one of the best female empowerment books i've read in a long time. it doesn't preach and it's not a book full of statistics either. it's a fun approach at a serious subject and instead of being impossible to understand the author uses real situations from the past and makes them understandable, as well as using statistics that really mean something. this is a must read for any young feminist!

1.0étoiles sur 5 Girls are equal too was totally outdated..., Janv. 25 2000
I read the book "Girls are Equal Too" and although I found it very informational as to the history of women being treated unfairly, the information relating to now was totally, completely, absolutely outdated- at least where I live. I attribute this fact to the original copywright- 1973, was it? In 27 years women have come a long way. One thing that bugged me especially: The author says that boys ask for dates, pay for dates. I say that girls now ask for dates, and go dutch and pay their own share, usually.

If you would care to debate, email me.

5.0étoiles sur 5 An absolutely essential manual, Nov. 26 1999
Par Jess (California, USA) - Voir tous mes commentaires
This book embodies the terrible situation of women and girls around the world, from the Muslim and Far East worlds to our own familiar United States (yes! girls are pressured to become cute little housewives). I already had strong feminist tendencies before reading this book, but now that I am better informed, I have more reinforced views. This book is very well researched, with examples, to back many of the author's claims. I recommend this book for any girl who feels cheated by today's society that pressures them to give up their brains-to be traded in for what? Short skirts, makeup, and hairspray? Is that all that truly matters in someone's life? Does no one notice that half the world's population are treated like second class citizens and often forced into the traditional role of housewife and producer of babies? Should we stand idly by and convince ourselves that dishwashers and diaper-changing are what females were made for? Girl's brains are just as good as boys'. Why then, are women everywhere brainwashed into believing that we are inferior? Why do we continue to condone this? Does anyone realize that no where does it say in our Constitution that women are men's equals? It says "all men are created equal". It implies that women are to be no more that household servants. We say we are liberated. That is a flat-out lie. If we want to be liberated, we should read this book and be well informed on our precarious situation. No longer should women and girls stand idly by with a baby on their hip and watch their life go by them!
