Product Details

Product Description

Time Out New York, March 15-22, 2001, Issue No. 28 --Meghan Dailey

…allowed Calle to “take back my ten pages of his [Auster’s] novel [Leviathan]. I obey the book, Maria obeys me.”

Book Description

This is the first major publication in English on the work of French artist Sophie Calle, yet this volume is in no way an ordinary monograph. In fact, it takes the form of a "double jeu", a "double game," between the work of Sophie Calle and the fiction of Paul Auster. Representing an imaginative interplay of fact and fiction, "Double Game" creates a publication of endless intrigue and layers: part novel, part diary, part artist's book, and part jest.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best ever!, Aug 1 2001
By A Customer
simply, this is the most excellent book i've come across. sophie calle's projects that mix photography and writing, seek to investigate identity, familiarity, and life in creative, direct, and honest ways. she's fascinated with knowing and simultaneously constructing others and herself.

i just saw an excerpt of the work discussed in this book at mass moca in north adams mass. it was amazing. the attention to detail that ms. calle pays is astounding. i can't wait to get the book and i recommend you get it to and see the work in person at mass moca if you get the chance.
