Product Description

Zoey needs a break after some serious excitement. Sadly, the House of Night school for vampyres doesn't feature breaks on its curriculum - even for a High Priestess in training and her gang. Plus juggling three guys is no stress reliever, especially when one is a sexy Warrior so into protecting Zoey that he's sensing her emotions. Wider stresses lurk too, and the dark force in Tulsa's tunnels is spreading. Could Stevie Rae be responsible for more than a group of misfit fledglings? And Aphrodite's visions warn Zoey to stay away from the immortal Kalona and his dark allure - but they also show that only Zoey can stop him. She's not exactly keen to meet up, but if Zoey don't go to Kalona he'll exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. She just has to find the courage to do what's necessary, or everything that's important to her will be destroyed. - Not suitable for younger readers -

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing..., Nov 9 2009
By Trang T. Ly (Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tempted (Hardcover)
The wait leading up to Tempted's release date was killer...and sadly I think the book just didn't quite live up to expectations.

Though there is much progress in the series' plot in Tempted, I'd have to say I was not "wow-ed". The little quirks I had about all previous titles in the series were still present (the book sounds like it was written by a teenager - and yes I do know that the primary narration is supposed to be through the eyes of a teen - I was still expecting a more mature writing style).

The book really seemed like it was just "going through the motions" - there didn't seem to be much thought behind character motives. As a matter of fact, most of the characters seemed pretty much the same...personalities blurred and I didn't really feel like any of the events or actions taking place really "belonged" to any single character - meaning a whole slew of the cast could have been cut from the book leaving the story the same... and irrelavent characters were a definite turn off in the book.

The book also failed to grab my undivided attention...whenever I quit reading the book, I didn't really find any urge to pick up and start reading again immediately because honestly I didn't really care much what happened next.

Luckily, the final chapter + epilogue of the book definitely leaves you with a huge cliffhanger, so I will definitely be reading "Burned" when it comes out but I am no longer dying to find out what happens next.

Lastly...I just wanna add... BOOOOOOOOO ERIK -_-"

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good Installment!, Nov 8 2009
By The Novel Hovel (North Bay, ON) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tempted (Hardcover)

Zoey continues to fight off temptation from 3 guys. The battle against Kalona continues. Some secrets are relieved. Some new characters are introduced and some are killed off.....
Well, I really love this series and I have enjoyed all of the books. This book is no exception. It still shocks me how Zoey can have all these guys chasing after her and it always seems to sound like a bad thing. In my opinion a bunch of hot guys chasing after me could never be a bad thing.. ha. I love all of the characters in this series and they are all developed so well in P.C and Kristin's writing that you feel like you know all of them. And the world of the vampyres to me in this novel seems really believable somehow. The only issue I have with this series and it is the same issue that I have with many series is that a lot of the books seem like filler books that end with a huge cliffhanger. They don't really seem to be stand alone books at all so you always have to go back and at least read then end of the last book to remember what happened. Well, if you read as many other books as I do, you generally get some mixed up occassionally. I wish it was more like Harry Potter or Twilight where you kind of have to read all of the books to get the whole story line but you at least feel somewhat content with the end of the book and not immediately feel like it just ends. I don't know could just be my opinion though. Another good book from the Casts'. Unfortunately we have to wait until April of next year for the next installment.

4.0 out of 5 stars The House of Night saga continues..., Nov 5 2009
By K. Wark "Fantasy/Sci-Fi Book Lover" (Okotoks, AB) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tempted (Hardcover)
Tempted is #6 in the HoN saga and was another good, quick read for me. Things have changed rather dramatically, personality-wise, where Erik is concerned that it seems a bit contrived: the 3 way love triangle with Zoey, Erik and Heath was getting a bit tiresome then Stark was added into the mix. So this "change" in Erik appears to be nothing more than a "quick fix" to take one of Zoey's guys out of the equation and it doesn't come across as a natural shift in character. However, it's still a good story and I continue to get emotionally involved in it. Plus, the ending was a KILLER (no pun intended)! The wait for Burned is going to be a long one.
