This book is a collection of short-shorts. I've read others, like the one by Carol Queen and the "on the go" series published years ago by Masquerade. Down & Dirty is a perfect addition to the genre. From the very first story, a spanking piece called "Yes" through to "Final Exam" by N. T. Morley, which is both a sexy and funny look at the whole erotic industry, the stories held my attention. M. Christian wrote a hot exhibitionist piece about a girl up on a rooftop masturbating for "the city at large." The Porn Date by Rachel K. Bussel gave an indepth (for a piece so short) view of sharing pornography with a partner. All in all, a worthwhile collection to have on a bedside table.

This is one of my favorite erotic anthologies. I've been a fan of ultra-short stories since I used to read the letters in Playboy's advisor column and in Penthouse and Penthouse Variations when I was a babysitter way back when. (The people I babysat for never seem to hide their porn that well. I could always find it after the kids went to sleep -- usually under the mattress or in a sock or underwear drawer.) That was my first introduction to reading "erotica," and I've always loved the hot quality of very short erotic snippets. This book contains 69 short stories, and they are mostly full stories -- with starts, middles, and ends, but they definitely focus on the good parts. I like how varied the stories are, and how truly hot they are. My favorites were the ones about spanking, since that's my personal fetish, but all of the stories were sexy. I guess this should have been a short review, since the stories in this book are so short -- but oh, well.
