4 Stars (Highest rating:Outstanding book, engrossing, a classic)

Charlotte Boyett-Compo has a hit with her e-novel, "In the Wind's Eye." It has all the components of a great novel that will stand the test of time: plot twists, a multigenerational dysfunctional family, slavery, war, secrets and even murder. The reader will be drawn into the story starting with the quote by Emily Dickinson on chapter one's title page. A different quote begins each of the 40 chapters, enhancing each one effectively. As the words flow into your head, you will learn of things that will shock you, thus keeping you glued to your computer screen, just waiting to see what will happen next to these characters. For some characters, the reader will genuinely feel compassion and/or pity; for others perhaps animosity, anger and even confusion. The book is that well written. This is a story that will stay with you while you are reading it, and days after you have finished. For some, 576 pages is a long read, but with this book, you will be left wishing for that many more. I highly recommend it. It is one of the better books of this genre that I have read in a while.

5 Stars

A gripping story of how far one person will go to destroy another. In the Wind's Eye is a strong, deeply emotional saga with all the mystery, deceit, and treachery of the old south's heritage. Not until the very last are all the loose ends tied up, leaving the reader to know this is a story they will never forget.... Ms. Boyett-Compo is an extemely gifted author with the skill to put together a truly magnificent story. Rich in the flavor of the old south, she has managed, with In the Wind's Eye, to take the reader on an impassioned journey to hell's door and back. A dramatic saga filled with enough betrayal and manipulation to last a lifetime. Truly spectacular, this is a fantastic writer worth the praise and effort of reading.
