Review
This cheap Island of Dr. Moreau knock-off is competently executed, though the ridiculously shoddy makeup designs for the unfortunate experiments keep Twilight People deep in the realm of the psychotronic. Obsessive Pam Grier fans will be dejected to realize that their heroine is relegated to a minor role as a feral panther-woman, her winsome features obscured by crepe hair and greasepaint. Faring far worse are the poor actors portraying the antelope man and human bat, both rendered comical with costumes that wouldn't pass muster in the cheapest of 1930s sci-fi serials. Unfortunately, the dull seriousness of the proceedings render Twilight People plodding and uninvolving, barely worth the time of even the hardiest bad movie fan, though Dr. Gordon does get the chance to make a nice speech early in the film that such die-hard connoisseurs might appreciate: "People are willing enough to admire commitment, so long as it isn't serious. Serious commitment has a way of becoming obsession. And obsession, as every newspaper reader knows, is insanity." ~ Fred Beldin, All Movie Guide
