5.0étoiles sur 5 Pam Is The Best!, Déc 7 2003
Par NorthofCB (Bells, TN United States) - Voir tous mes commentaires
Of all the "modern" female country singers, Pam Tillis most certainly reigns supreme above all other. "Greatest Hits" is a wonderful collection of Tillis's most memorable songs and beautiful ballads. My pick from this album is the beautiful "The River and the Highway" which is one of my favorites of any type of music. There are up-beat classic as well. "Queen of Denial" "Shake the Sugar-Tree" and "My Crazy Life" are all magic to the ear, and of course "Maybe it was Memphis" makes the cut. Pure country gold.

5.0étoiles sur 5 The Essential Pam Tillis, Juil 21 2002
Par J. M. Zuurbier (Canada) - Voir tous mes commentaires
(REAL NAME)
Pam Tillis broke onto the scene in 1991 with her debut album PUT YOURSELF IN MY PLACE. Immediately she became a hit, with her blend of country and her sweet and memorable voice. Her first hit single was "Don't Tell Me What To Do", followed by the hit which defined her career, the ballad "Maybe It Was Memphis". This was followed by hits such as the fun and spirited "Shake the Sugar Tree", and the beautiful ballad "Let That Pony Run". Probably one of her cathiest songs is the uptempo song "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial". "Spilled Perfume" is one of my favorites, about a one night stand. "When You Walk In The Room" is classic, and "In Between Dances" is a really sweet ballad. "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)" is another fun uptempo song, and the closing "The River and The Highway" is a beautiful ballad about two scorned lovers, with one of the most beautiful videos I've seen in country music. The GREATEST HITS also includes two great new songs. "All The Good Ones Are Gone", the first single from the set, is a ballad relenting that all the good men are taken, and that time may be running out. "Land of the Living" is my favorite though, a fun upbeat song about telling someone to join the land of the living, because things have changed. Overall you can't lose with this collection, its essential listening, and reminds you what a shame it is she is no longer played anymore on country radio.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Essential Listening, Juil 17 2002
Par Chris S. "cscotts" (atlanta, ga United States) - Voir tous mes commentaires
Pam Tillis' first compilation gives ample justification as to why she was one of the preeminent female vocalists of the genre during the nineties. Front to back, there are no weak cuts here--the two new tracks, 'Land Of The Living' and 'All The Good Ones Are Gone', are both first-rate, and several of the songs here remain some of the very best singles of the last decade, chiefly 'Don't Tell Me What To Do', 'Maybe It Was Memphis'(still probably her finest moment), 'Shake The Sugar Tree', and 'In Between Dances'. It would have been nice to have seen both 'One Of Those Things' and 'Deep Down' included, but as it stands there's nothing wrong at all with what is here.
