What do you mean "maybe"? It is you !, Avril 19 2003
I can't believe the USA never payed much attention to Treble Charger ! They have the potentiel to be as big as Blink 182 and are much, much, much (...) better than the horrible Simple Plan. Oh, if you haven't guessed, they do pop-punk-rock just like those 2 other bands. Maybe It's Me is the record that introduced me to Treble Charger. It's a nice introduction to the band, but it can't be compared to Wide Awake Bored (their best release). If you're a fan, you should also check out their fourth release, Detox (I think it's fourth, I'm not sure if there are 1 or 2 albums before Maybe It's Me).Anyway, the record starts well enough with Friend of Mine, a very catchy song and also one of the singles. How She Died and Stupid Thing to Say are right up there with the first song. Red and Ever She Flows are great ballads that show the talent of these guys. Without taking anything away from the other songs, I think the best one is Christ Is On The Lawn. It's also a ballad but it really shows how beautiful Greig's voice is (or Bill's voice, see below for explanation). Not every songs are up to those I mentionned, but they're still good and shouldn't stop you from checking out this album. By the way, there's a chance you won't notice but Treble Charger has 2 singers. One sings the more punk songs, the other sings on the ballads. I'm not sure who is who so that's why I can't say who sings on Christ Is On The Lawn. I only noticed this fact when I say them live (they are incredible live). It's not that their voices are the same, it's just that they have the same tone so it's possible to think they are from the same person. Well, that's what I tell myself every night before going to sleep... Maybe It's Me is a good album to own, but it shouldn't be alone. Wide Awake Bored is a great fallower, better in my mind.
